A little about me...
I went to USC School of Cinematic Arts and have always been a photographer at heart —
ttwo things that continue to shape the way I see people and approach my work as a casting director.
After film school, I spent over six years working on studio feature films, primarily alongside casting legend Michael Chinich on Ivan Reitman’s films, before making the move into commercial casting. For the past 35 years, I’ve had the privilege of casting and collaborating with some of the best directors and producers in the business.
In 2004, I founded SHANE. a casting company, where I worked on award winning spots and campaigns.
I’ve always been a bit of a people watcher — something that serves me well when selecting both actors and real people for auditions.
I believe kindness matters. And for me, working with talented, good-hearted people is still the best part of the job.

Shane Springer, also affectionately referred to as “Boy Shane” in our office, is a Los Angeles-based casting director who began his career in 2013. Born and raised just outside of the city known for entertainment, and having sworn to not go into “the biz”, its siren song was just too strong. After studying marketing, he discovered his real passion was people — and as it turns out, you can build a pretty good career blending the two. Over the years, he's worked on numerous Super Bowl commercials, award-winning spots, and campaigns that have genuinely worked their way into the cultural conversation.Shane has cast some of the most recognizable campaigns in advertising, including the beloved Dr. Rick Progressive campaign since its inception — an ensemble of characters trying to avoid “turning into their parents.” Some other notable campaigns have been Southwest Airlines “Wanna Get Away”, and the memorable Discover Card spots where callers and agents are uncanny doppelgängers — a fun bit of casting magic that fooled most viewers into thinking it was one actor playing both roles. In addition, he has extensive experience casting spokespeople for major brands, including most recently Sonic Drive-In, Tampax, Sparkling Ice, and more. His specialties include comedy, beauty, and kids — though every project brings something new to the table, which is a big part of what keeps the work exciting. Rooted in collaboration, Shane loves working closely with directors and creatives to understand not just who they're looking for, but why. He's known for making the process feel energetic and enjoyable, and for bringing out the best in every performer who walks through the door.
